Introducing #jakeshoefie
If you buy a new pair of shoes and don’t share them on social media, did they ever happen?
Part of the fun of shoe shopping is showing your friends your new shoes. If they earn you likes and comments on social media, even better, and better still are the complements you get when you wear them with ‘that’ outfit.
How great would be if your new shoes could earn you vouchers to spend in your favourite shoe shop?
Here at Jake we are giving them the chance to do just that.
We believe that all shoes deserve to be talked about and we want to encourage you to show off your fabulous new footwear to all your friends.
All you need to do is take a shoefie featuring your new shoes and share it on Facebook or Instagram using the hashtag #jakeshoefie. In return you will be entered in to our monthly prize draw and you could WIN £50.00 to spend at Jake.
What’s a shoefie?
If you don’t know what a shoefie is, let us explain.Shoefie - noun [pronounced shoe-fee]: A selfie of the shoes you are currently wearing. To be precise, a shoefie is a picture you take of yourself wearing shoes, for the purpose of sharing the image on social media. The key elements of a shoefie are that your feet must be in your shoes and you must take the photo yourself. A picture of your shoes that you have taken in any other setting is not a shoefie. And a picture of your feet in shoes, taken by someone else, is not a shoefie. Let’s have a look at some examples.
Shoefie
These shots of Timberland Authentic ankle boots demonstrate a shoefie from two different angles; above and from the side. They are both taken by the photographer of their feet in the shoes, so they are proper shoefies. This image of the leather Mol flats from Fly London is taken from above, looking down at the photographer’s shoes. The leaves make an interesting background in this shoefie. Not a shoefie
This picture of the same boots by the canal, whilst set against a wintry backdrop, is not a shoefie because the boots are not being worn at the time it was taken. Although the Red Wing 875 Classic Moccasin Toe Boots are being worn in this image, the photo was not taken by the person wearing them, which means that this is not a shoefie. The same applies to this shot of the Vans SK8-Hi Winter lace boots. Because it was not taken by the person wearing the shoes, it can’t be classed as a shoefie. So, now you know what a shoefie is, next time you buy a pair of shoes from Jake, find somewhere fun to take your #jakeshoefie and share it on your social media (Facebook or Instagram).
