Timeless Timberland Boots: Firm Celeb Faves Since the 90's
A brief history of the Timberland boot
The Original Yellow Boot was introduced to the world by Sidney Swartz in 1973. Created for hard-working New Englanders the design was driven by form, function and craftsmanship and intended to cope with the hard, wet, snowy winters or New Hampshire. Fashion couldn’t have been further from Swartz’s mind. But his determination to create a boot made from the finest materials, that could withstand all weather conditions and all terrains, was enough to make people stand up and take notice. Gradually the boot took on a worldwide appeal.
Nineties US hip-hop artists brought the iconic boot in to the limelight with their larger-than-life attitudes and it has continued to hold its fashion appeal today.
Whilst 90’s trends are making a comeback, seen in brands like Cat and Buffalo relaunching their chunky styles, Timberland is also a brand for the more understated. The brand can be tied in to any lifestyle, so whether you prefer to team them with rapper style baggy jeans, or the utility inspired ripped jeans of today, a pair of Timberlands will evolve with your look, making them a worthwhile investment.
Today you will see Timberlands worn by the likes of David Beckham, Rhianna, Jay-Z and Kanye West. Models, Kendall Jenner, Gigi & Bella Hadid and Hailey Baldwin love them. Raff Law (son of Jude and Sadie) was the face of Timberland’s AW17 campaign.
Timberland now come in a huge variety of styles and colours, but the classic 6-inch boots still hold their own in the fashion stakes. Whether they are a nostalgic throwback to the 90’s, or you want to nail the 2019 hiking boot trend, a pair of Timberland are a wardrobe must-have that will see you through this season and beyond.
So, we’ll let people continue to chat about a Timberland comeback, safe in the knowledge that you know that your investment will never go out of style.
